Hard to reach absolute conclusions relative to that as ANA has a larger J cabin and therefore more J seats (46 versus UA's 36) and fewer Y seats...partially due to the smaller Y cabin relative to UA. In the Y cabin, UA do have 9 across whilst ANA have 8 across........so Y is likely more cramped on UA. However, I did not compare seat pitch between the two in Y to see if one is better than the other. Certainly Economy Plus on UA is bound to have more pitch than Y on ANA.
