The revamped Club Deluxe rooms are indeed called Grand Suites now. If there was an award for the cheesiest trick ever pulled by a Hyatt hotel on its guests, this Berlin Suite rebadging fiasco would probably make it to the final round.

Here is the hastily updated Club Deluxe/Grand Suite description:

"This 48-sq.-metre suite with views to the courtyard features modern interiors with innovative touches including living and dining areas, spacious master bathroom in marble and cherry wood with tub, rain shower, heated floor, flat-screen TV, Aveda products, mist-free mirrors and a separate bedroom with a king bed. The suite features deluxe amenities such as complimentary high-speed Internet access, fresh fruit and bottled water. Enjoy Grand Club access featuring a private lounge with continental breakfast buffet, afternoon tea with biscuits and chocolates, evening drinks with canapés, wireless LAN access and a separate conference room.
In our suites we offer you free Internet connection."

Personally, I don't like the new Club Deluxe/Grand Suite layout at all because a dark-colored wall (with inlaid TVs on either side) was erected in an odd shaped 48 square metre room with only a narrow door leading from living room to bedroom. This basically makes both living and bedroom appear really small. The whole design is pretty stylish though and the bathroom is spacious.

Minor details such as the advertised Bang & Olufsen flatscreen TV (which is not present in this Suite type as far as I have seen it) are still wrong but otherwise the description is accurate.

If their current Club Deluxe room description is still correct, I would choose the deluxe room over the relabeled Grand Suite anytime:

"Experience VIP accommodation in a 46-sq.-metre room, including living area, one king bed and a luxurious bathroom with separate tub and walk-in shower. Deluxe amenities include heated bathroom floors, flat-screen TV, mist-free mirrors, two basins, Aveda bath products, complimentary wireless Internet access, complimentary fruit and bottled water. Enjoy Grand Club access featuring a private lounge with continental breakfast buffet, afternoon tea with biscuits and chocolates, evening drinks with canapés, wireless LAN access, a separate conference room and a beautiful view over the Tiergarten park and the Berlin Philharmonic Hall.
In our suites we offer you free Internet connection."

Conclusion: the described Club Deluxe room is almost equal in size to the courtyard Grand Suite, has far superior views and costs 65 EUR less per night. The free minibar contents are definitely not worth this price difference, especially since club access is included anyway.

If available, one could even insist on being assigned a Club Deluxe room as a complimentary Diamond Upgrade, as it is clearly not classified as a Suite. Now, they can hardly justify their old "our Club Deluxe rooms are really Junior Suites" reasoning anymore. In fact, a Grand Hyatt Berlin employee suggested just that to me later on after having noticed how much trouble I had before getting the actual Grand Suite I originally reserved.

Despite all the criticism: a positive thing is that they have corrected the descriptions in a reasonable amount of time after being alerted to their mistake and appear to be trying their utmost to honor all existing reservations where a confirmation with the old Grand Suite description was sent out (i.e. all bookings before last weekend).

Still waiting for an official statement from the Berlin GM.
