I'd eat everything mentioned so far. Though, as Doc Savage pointed out, something worthwhile doesn't need to come from a highfalutin restaurant.
Along Jalan Mangga Besar in Jakarta, I came upon a "Kue Medan (Medan cakes)" vendor. Although she was in front of a related (North Sumatran) restaurant, I went to town with the variety of gelatinous/sticky rice treats available. The cakes are small, often flavored with pandan (a regional tropical plant), coconut and chocolate and are a much better bang-for-your-rupiah than "sitting down" to eat the same.
Completely unrelated note (ish), have any of you tried Chinatown (in US Chinatowns, at least) takes on Western desserts?
