Flight 10 months out, but can't select a seat? What can I do?

I got this message when I trying to assign seats.
! Advance seat assignments are restricted for this flight. Please select a seat during check-in.

Usualy when it is avialable to select? My flight is about 10 month from now. I don' want to miss good seats.
