The FTC doesn't say the hotel has to do the addition and math for you. It wants them to show the total - and in this case, room rate, taxes, and resort charge.

You might not like them - so be it, at least say that. But they aren't deceptive. Even a soccer mom in Iowa can't miss it. The FTC wants to go after the deceptive hotels - nothing indicates resort fees will ever go away completely.

The screen shot I showed is the last prior to actually making the reservation - don't like it, cancel.

If you don't like them so much - then stay at a property that doesn't have them, in Hawaii at a true resort hotel, they will be few and far between.
