Here are some frustrations that I experience when traveling.
1. At the checkin counters there are families with 10 bags overweight and are asking every little question possible. I wish there was an express line like at the supermarket for those with 2 bags or less and have their ID ready to go. I know some airlines have an express bag drop but not everyone at every airport. It got to the point of frustration after this family before me had to rearrange their bags that I went to the Premiere Line with my boarding pass out and ready to go.
2. At security people holding up the line because they are not prepared. As soon as I'm done checking in I put my cellphone and other loose items into my checked bag. Then I show my ID to the checker and put my ID in my wallet and that goes into my checked bag as well. When I'm a few feet from the bins I take my belt off, shoes off, laptop out of the bag and into another separate bin. I then walk through the machine.
As my bins are coming out I put my shoes on, belt on and laptop in the bag and then move over to the provided benches and finish getting ready. My wallet and cellphone go back into my pockets, shoes tied, belt adjusted etc. IT works every time.
3. On moving walkways passengers don't let me pass on a tight connection.. I pass on the left but its some of those passengers who are oblivious. When I'm not in a rush I stay on the right and let others pass.
4. At airport restaurants people block the ordering area to see what is on the menu. It would be nice for restaurants to place their menus before the ordering line so you can make a quick choice. Usually I am familiar with the place so I'm ready to order but there is this family who keeps changing the order when all I wanted was a simple latte.
5.Waiting on the plane for the crew to connect the jetbridge especially on a tight connection. Once I waited 15 minutes for the gate to be connected due to a late arriving crew. As soon as I exited I saw where they went they were late coming back from lunch. I could not get a bite to eat because of the extra 15 minutes spent waiting for them. Now mind you we arrived on time. I don't mind waiting but if they know there are people making tight connections then be there for those people and rush them off.
6. At Southwest Airlines ticket counter at SJC the stated opening time is 5 AM on weekdays and 5:30 AM on weekdays on more than one instance the agents barely were awake and ready to open with coffee in their hands. Then the express bag drop was not opened as stated on Southwest's website and families were there with lots of luggage. Again I had my boarding pass ready to go and was ready with just my one bag. Frustrating when I planned to arrive at 4:45AM to be one of the first in line and the counter opened at 5:15 AM. That does not sit well with me because agents are supposed to be open at 5 AM unless there was some extenuating circumstances which was not the case as this happened more than once.
7. No free WiFi at airports. At some airports you have to pay T-Mobile just to use their WiFI. If at least my Southwest Airlines Day Pass would work in the gate areas or American Airlines Day Pass would work in their gate areas I have no objecting to pay $10 as long as I know my plane has WiFi. But charging once for T-Mobile and once on the plane is pushing it. I think Starbucks should offer free ATT wiFi at airports even if its owned by HMS Host.
8.Bad signage around the airport. If a restaurant closed years ago or a route changed to the airport wouldn't they update it as soon as possible?
Driving to SFO across 380 is so confusing as you have to stay in the far right lane of 101 South in order to get into SFO. Then immediately you have to pull the left for Domestic/International. There needs to be better signage. Better to take 101 North to SFO over this shoddy approach. Why they couldn't connect 380 directly to the airport access road is odd.
On 280 the signs say Take 380 to SFO but it does not say anything about merging to 101 South. There isn't even a sign on 380 after El Camino to use 101 South and stay in right lane to SFO. You have these big buses and trucks to contend with along with the merging traffic. Its an accident waiting to happen.
9. It would be nice for airports to have a music listening room where you can sit and listen to music for free and then download it to your MP3 player or phone. This would give those without airline lounge access a place to go.
10. The signs say no smoking within 25 feet of the door and still people smoke there needs to be better enforcement of the law.
