Absolutely agree. The theory (written or conventional) may be one thing. But ground reality is that it's typically not a problem to go in and out at will. I've done it a lot myself. At times, one may encounter a guard who will be fussy, but it's rare to not be allowed to exit and re-enter.
Usually, you just need a valid reason (doesn't matter if it's true). Anything from "I forgot my phone" to "changed my mind" to "nothing" can work, and has.
