Sounds excessive just to change 1 leg. If that's the case you would be better off just buying a separate OW for YWG-ORD which looks to be <400 right now. Might be a seat sale after Xmas.

I wouldn't be too hard on Calm Air; schedule changes happen. They informed you and I don't know what else you expect them to do for you.
