My experience at this hotel for Platinum upgrades:
1- Upgrade from cheapest available main hotel to corner harbor view on 10th floor, also main hotel. Access to restricted windowless lounge constructed specifically to keep Platinum guests out of the top-floor Towers lounge.
2- Upgrade from cheapest available Towers room to Harbor view Towers room. Access to top-floor lounge with wonderful views, spectacular breakfast, and mediocre cocktail hour.
3- Upgrade from cheapest available Towers room to a Towers suite with view only to apartments across the street (mainly their laundry) and access to the same top-floor lounge as in 2. The suite had completely separate sitting and bed rooms, was at least the size of two rooms (not one room split in two), and had a large bathroom.

It seems to me that you can nearly always count on a Platinum upgrade of some description, but never to a harbor view suite. And if you book in the main hotel you will NOT get access to the Towers lounge.
