Be responsible for the rules for entering and leaving every country you go to. Renew documents with plenty of time to spare -- we have more ways than ever to remind ourselves when these things are due.

Treat the "Docs OK" stamp as merely a check that you have your documents with you at the airport and didn't leave them at home/hotel/in the car.
