Because you can legally enter Argentina with your US passport even when your an Argentina citizen, they will put you a stamp that says Argentina citizen 180 days, and you don't even have to pay the foreign citizen fee. Also, you will leave the country with the same passport without a problem, because you have the entry stamp, and you don't even have to show your Argentina passport. I know it because I was born in Argentina, I've been living in the U.S since I'm 10 years old, I was born from an American mom, hence I'm a U.S Citizen, and the only time I needed to show my Argentina passport was when I originally moved to the U.S, since I was living in Argentina, I didn't had an entry stamp on my U.S passport, that's why I needed to show the Argentina one, otherwise, I never ever had to use that passport again, anyway it's already expired.
Interesting. Colombia asks me every time for my valid Colombian passport and this is where all stamps go in. Of course, I also show my US passport to prove rightful entry/return to USA.
