I agree though, that if you do stay at Club Carlson hotels beyond those bribes enough (but just not quite enough for thes status the card gives), there may be some additional benefit to one the annual fee versions.
It was one of those bribes that introduced me to the PP soi 18 in Bangkok. It's now become one of our go-to hotels.
