File a complaint with the EU department that handles involuntary downgrades straightaway. Also if I were you just call up one of these no win no fee lawyers. They will send out a letter to LX for no cost to you.
IMHO you have the most clear cut case out of us all. They let you fly there.
I really feel you guys on FT have taken this too lightly. If it had happened to me I would have made sure that I got my compensation for this.
The flights going over ex RGN and returning on LX F were not inbound LX but rather RJ/SQ/AC/9W coded. So this would be the first involvement of Swiss here.
I personally think they put themselves into hot water letting the OP fly in Y, legally (as the ticket was already started) there is no easy way out for them. They could have voided the return portion but in that case I would have contacted Immigration Canada to set the airline straight as a foreigner with a legitimately purchased fare and now LX refuses transportation.
LX action either in a downgrade situation or short notice cancellation shows bad intent and they will have a tough time demonstrate the opposite in court if the OP decides to go ahead.
The best option would probably be to go after them for the double downgrade on 2 longhaul flights. Damages are another issue, those would have to be calculated realistically.
