I want to clear out most of my Chase cards so I can hit their Southwest and United card bonuses in late spring.

FICO score? I think I saw this during a recent loan process, but all I remember is that it was in the 700's. Usually I just get the free credit reports that show all your open accounts so I can make sure I don't have anything open that should be closed (and that everything is correct!)
I'm sure the reason the Chase rep didn't try talking you out of it is it's a no fee card. Unlike the CSP that they hope to get yearly fees from. I personelly don't cancel any no fee cards because they have little or no sign up bonuses. They also keep my utilization in the 1-2 % catagorery and add to my credit history. I can also transfer credit limits from them to my new applications so it's a win win for me. Plus with the Freedom card I love the 5% rotating quarterly bonuses. Next year 2 out of the 4 quarters has gasoline in them so for 6 months it will be the only card I use for fill ups.
