Yes...it's nice that the person next to you physically can't spill over into your space.
And I'm not the skinniest guy out there, either.
The width is fine, and the several extra inches of leg room (and the ability for the window seat person--my preferred seat--to get up and use the lav without making the two others in the row get up) make it the best seat on the plane.
Comparatively, I hate the exit row window seats because of the midget armrest they use. I end up getting pains in my shoulder because of the lack of support for my elbow.
I won't take row 6 on the 734, 73G, or 739, where there is no underseat storage and a hard bulkhead wall in front preventing me from stretching my legs out. But it's by far the best seat on a 738.
If 6A/F is not available, then I'll take either 17C/D or 6C/D, but despite my lack of thinness, I've never found the width of the row 6 seats to be an issue at all. (It's definitely noticeably skinny and uncomfortable in the bulkhead seats on the Q400, though.)
But I should be happy that no one else here likes row 6. More seats for me.
But now we're getting OT. Even without elite status and access to rows 6/17, I personally wouldn't spend an extra $400pp to get up front. Call me cheap, but even though I appreciate upgrades as much as any other FTer, I don't find the experience in F to be
that much better than in Y. I'm odd, I guess, but I have no problems flying even longhaul in Y (I just spent 40 hours of my life flying in Y on AA and JL and survived just fine). I find the difference between regular Y and nicer Y seats like row 6 or exit rows to feel like a bigger difference than Y vs. domestic F.
