Instead of RDU, try to get somewhere close. You'd probably want to rent a car there anyway, which can be cheaper than taxi fares to/from the airport. Look at a map for nearby airports to try. Alternatively, investigate getting to ATL and then purchasing a cheap ATL-RDU-ATL (or MEM might be easier and cheaper).
