Also look into flights EU-SEA, as it's fairly easy to get a low domestic segment on AS direct to SFO or SJC. AS flights will always price at low level, since they are a partner airline. If you can't get direct EU-SFO, then I think the next best option to look into are AMS-LAX, CDG-LAX, and FCO-LAX. If you can get those, then the domestic segment will again be fairly easy to get.
