I would never consider checking them.
In one of the posts, OP says they are gifts; if OP tells this to customs at final destination, OP will be liable for import duties and sales tax. If OP claims they will return home while they will not, OP may breaking the law - which can be costly in some countries, and the iPhones may be confiscated.
