Oh, and BTW, if you're looking for a base for day trips, Split is a much better choice - you can take a trip inland to Plitvice lakes, or Krka River national park, or you can do a lot of island hopping. Dubrovnik is kind of a dead-end if you're not keen on hairpin curves
