They could have had no idea then the firestorm their departure from Florida would cause.
By the time the Spurs’ nationally televised game against Miami tipped off Thursday night at AmericanAirlines Arena — with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Danny Green safely ensconced on their respective couches — all hell had broken loose.
Off topic, but the league threatening "substantial" penalties is absurd. The Spurs almost won the game. It's Coach Pop's decision to decide who to play and when to play 'em, not David Stern's. Would Stern still be threatening penalties if Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, and Green were at American Airlines Arena, but wound up in the box score as "DNP - Coach's Decision"? If not . . .
