I based my comments on my perception, acquired from the number of US-based people who post on chat groups with the suggestion to sue.
People tend to buy into the narrative which they are already inclined to buy hook, line and sinker.
Given the heavy predominance of US communicators on English-majority language forums, English as the world's most common lingua franca and American dominance in global media representations (fictional and otherwise), it is easy to over-exaggerate about the US while being ignorant in a different way about people in some other states where English is not the indigenous mother tongue of the majority.
Just as a theoretical question, just what do you suggest the airlines could have done to get the woman in question home to the USA? And (without presenting ridiculous arguments) how would you have done it?
Do answers to those questions change a thing for her or even you? No. That's why I entertained the above questions in the way I have.
