What I don't understand is this Cathay competes with BA to Hong Kong as a direct service. Why then are we invariably so busy if the product is so inferior? Maybe they just don't read FT or maybe as I said before they just like the way things are. I have heard nothing but good things about Cathay. However I'd be far more interested in hearing what Air New Zealand are like as we compete with them as well - though I believe that they do not fly daily.
Cathay Pacific operate 4 flights to Heathrow, and they are also just as busy. BA tried a 3rd flight and it wasn't a success. People here liked to blame the departure time as being inconvenient on that particular flight, but Cathay have one that leaves less than an hour later and they have no problem with it.
Never flown with Air New Zealand but my company CEO loves them and picks them over Cathay or BA. They're also usually quite a bit cheaper, which i suspect may have something to do with his choice. As noted above, i believe theyre scrapping the route.
