You're right, the free middle seat is a usually big plus in CE. However, as I love my window seats it's no benefit on a 767 European for me
But as the food was good (especially compared to my recent CW to BOS) and priority tags surprisingly seemed to work coming from IST, I did not regret paying the small premium. Not to forget the cheap TPs that got me to Silver
