I am working at a client in Lincoln and was doing my hotel reservations for December on the phone with a Marriott representative. She listed Lincoln hotels for me, and said the Cornhusker was available. I knew it was a Marriott in the past, but it turns out that it's re-opening as a Marriott on 12/12/12.

Did anyone have past experience with The Cornhusker? Does anyone know why it was shut down, and also, why it is now re-opening under the Marriott brand again? Would love to hear anything people know.

Somewhat related, I've been staying at the Courtyard Downtown Lincoln in Haymarket. It's brand new, the staff are very nice and helpful, and the rooms are good. Great location in Haymarket. My only complaints are the parking situation (a garage across the street, with 11/night validated parking from the hotel with unlimited entry/exit, when there's a giant lot right next door) and lack of free breakfast (but it's a Courtyard, so I can't expect that). The fitness center is great, albeit small - free headphones, clean, constantly attended to.
