It's actually form follows function with Rimowa. The look is lightweight aluminum my friend, and not structural steel.

I somehow bent one of my alu attaches, while running it through an airport security departure check. Well out of North America airspace, I noticed it no longer opened or closed well.

Well out of warranty by a decade, I nonetheless elected to have it repaired with a Rimowa-approved shop. That cost alone was 150 CHF, minus shipping back and forth. And most of the dents and dings were still there, post repair.

I've had a few leather and even a teak attache, and they have all broken one time or another in the past. They were disposed of. I chose to keep the Rimowa alu Slim attache going given the light weight, and am very glad it was repaired. Still being used, it is sitting at this moment by the door, ready for work.

There are many nice, pretty travel bags and cases out there. None of which I would ever advise anyone to sit on, despite the svelte models doing just that in past LH Skyshop and Worldshop catalogues. ( Are you perhaps a thin svelte model ? ). As I've mentioned previously, if one uses the Rimowa alu cases, they dent and scratch over time the more one travels. They age with time and show it.

My experience, and that of other owners is not yours. Sorry you have problems with Rimowa Topas, but by reading your first post these appear to be of your own making. And by your last statements, Rimowa has stepped forward even further to take care of you.

You should be celebrating this fact here, and not complaining.
