The pig gets moved out of the pool as the summer winds down. He/She would freeze in the wading pool during the winter.

The W is definitely better if room size is what you are looking for. Most rooms at the SLS are similar size around 400 sq. feet and even studio suites (the standard upgrade for Platinums if it happens to be available) are just a single large room and 40-50% smaller than the W. Fantastic suites at the W are at least 3 rooms (bed room/office/living room). The office has a pull out couch which can sleep another 2 people.

The food at SLS is better- higher quality/more variety. The pool is nicer at the SLS.

Neighborhood wise, I prefer Westwood as you can easily walk to Whole Foods and restaurants. UCLA is also across the street.
