My old CEO, who I've mentioned on here before, who we called 'Turn Left Fred' (that man had almost certainly never turned right when getting on a plane) had a legendary reputation in our firm for his, let's say 'interactions', with female cabin crew.

It would start with him attracting the attention of a passing female CC, explaining "My dear, I have a terrible problem with this glass - it's empty. Is there anything you can do to help me?" and when she returned with the drink, would be followed up with something like "I cannot possibly thank you enough, and if you would allow me, I would like to apologise now for this glass frequently finding itself in the empty state, but then as I will get to talk to such a beautiful woman, albeit fleetingly, while it's returned to its rightful state, I cannot apologise too much"

Looking in from the outside you're thinking "Yeah, right, pass the sickbag" but it worked, she was hooked. He would get everything first, his level of attention was always the best of anyone in the cabin etc etc. I would doze off on the really long flights, and wake up to find him enthralling said member of staff with some tale (no idea if true or not, but probably was knowing him), or off in the galley talking to them.

We would then land in our destination, check in to the hotel, go for dinner in some swanky place and inevitably end up in a posh bar where who would turn up on his invitation, but a fair few of the female cabin crew from the flight.

I would never have believed this had I not seen it with my own eyes the three times I travelled with him. It wasn't even like it was good flirting, but he was the most utterly charming man.

I fear that were I to try similar, I would get one of 'those' looks...
