I think the right thing to do is call and let them know I only need LHR-JFK so they will have a FC seat open for JFK-MCO. Has anyone done this prior to departure for first leg? Obviously I don't want anything to change on my LHR-JFK leg so is there any chance pf screw up or to be safe should I just call during the week window between JFK and MCO?

Thanks
Is your ticket one way or round trip? If the latter, you may have more of an issue regardless of when you call because your ticket will need to be reissued, which could incur a change fee. If it's a one way, go ahead and call. If the agent tells you that cancelling JFK-MCO is a problem, don't make the change, and then call again after you fly LHR-JFK.
