As I think more about the homes that got hit in the New York metropolitan area, I think a significant added cost in disaster planning will be determining what kind of platform on which the backup unit should sit.
My guess is that this should be 10-12 feet off the ground to avoid flood waters which should add a hefty amount to the insulation. Does this make any sense?

I think 10 or 12 feet of water would make electricity pretty much irrelevant . . .
