The OH and I have recently spent enough to earn the Amex 2-4-1, and with most of my reserves tied up in bullion under the mattress, liquid assets are to be conserved where possible.

With that in mind, what destinations may incur low/lower taxes than others?

Destinations we've considered are Tokyo, West Coast of the US, Chicago or Miami. We're very open to FT'ers ideas as to where we go, preference for time of year is June-Sept next year, booking in W. Preferably warm to minimise moaning. A beach holiday with inland sights would be ideal. 150k avios in the pot to redeem.

Am I wrong in thinking it likely that APD or other taxes will rise in April, so we should book before April? We'll probably book as far ahead as possible to get the best availability.
