First, no one at the Plat/Diamond check-in line (surprise) even though huge line of people waiting to checkin or talk to front desk.
I had booked two rooms, the first was a regular King room, the second, I used a Suite Upgrade for my parents and sister and had been told the suite would have 2 full beds.
Well, at check in, was told the suite had only 1 real bed, and the other was a couch pull out, or I could get a roll-away. My parents/sister are staying in the other room for 7 nights and I didnt want to put them through that, so I ended up taking the suite upgraded room for myself, and switching my King room into a double bed room for them.
Front desk lady apologized but didnt seem like she could do much. She did offer some bottles of water and food amenity, which is nice but certainly doesnt make up for the mess up in beds.
So now I have a few questions-
1) When using a Suite upgrade, is only the availability of a suite confirmed, or is the bed type confirmed too? I want to know if I should make any further issue of this or let it go
2) Is access to the Grand Room only for Diamond members, or for anyone staying in a suite (I thought Club Rooms and higher got access)... remember I'm using a suite upgrade (from my Hyatt CC)... so maybe I dont get access, although I thought I would (and I did at other hotels in the past).
#1 - The suite upgrade is only for the lowest suite class that the hotel has (usually a junior suite with just one bed). Sorry to hear that this was not explained when you applied the suite upgrade. It usually is explained that only one bed is available by the Diamond rep.
