Le Meridien Dahab covered in mud - compensation?
Wife and I in LM Dahab this week. 7 nights booked directly on hotel website. I'm SPG gold. On day of arrival the area was hit by severe rain which turned into a mud slidge. When it was over the hotel was literally covered in mud and no electricity. During the evening electricity came back and they were able to open one restaurant out of four (I think its the number they have). The pools were turned into mudbaths.
Today, Thursday the main pool is still not open, only one restaurant is open, all indoor public areas are very humid and unpleasant.
Apart from hosting a pathetic cocktail reception next to the mudfilled pool the management has done nothing to compensate the guest. On the evening of the rain storm we had to find our way to the restaurant on mud covered paths with my own flashlight. Nevertheless they charged us full price for buffet and drinks.
Apart from a letter from the GM on the 2nd day outlining which (very few!) services were working there has been no communication from the manganet to guests who are still here. I understand some European tour operators were moving their guests to other properties.
When I today approached the management I was offered 10.000 starpoints (apparently the price of 3 nights here) or they could "look into my extras" or provide some free lunches/dinners. I said I would reflect on that.
Thankfull for advice on what kind of compensation I should ask for given the state this resort is currently in?
Thanks!
