Starting the emergency (yet controlled) descent to a lower altitude as per SOPs in such a situation. Not exactly the optimal euphemism one potentially would use (along with "dropping the hammer") with respect to a security-sensitive industry, but I reckon it sounds sexier than "pulling the plug" on things...
