don"t do a stupid thing like me #2
I thought I was in a hurry, returned at ALB about 7am on a Friday, flight is at 820am. The employee looks around the car, gets the mileage, ask me if I filled the car up and said the hand held checkin machine was down, he'd have to do the return inside the customer service booth. I told him I was in a hurry, just to email me the receipt, like numerous times that have occurred at other Hertz locations. Well, checked my credit card and Hertz account via website, nothing has been charged except two authorizations for $100 each, no closed contract on my Hertz Gold account. Turn Monday, nothing. I'm thinking did the kid who did the checkin not close the contract and now he's driving around in the P4 C250 that was upgraded to me. Call the 800 number, the lady tells me I have no rentals since June. Well, that is wrong, she finally gets to the right page and tells me nothing since Nov 3. ALB was Nov 14th. She gives me the local number, call it in the afternoon and told the person my situation. No RA number. He ask for my name and bingo, "Oh you have not returned the car yet." Well, I'm 3000 miles away. I give him my Gold number, he finds the RA and car number, checks and sees the car has been "re rented." I ask how can this happen, contract not closed and you re rent the car? He says the checkin person is new and could have been busy. ALB is not busy and I was really worried the kid was driving the Benz around buying drugs or doing robberies with my name as renter. So, long story short, get the receipt from the employee, no matter how late you are (and I was not late, early by 30 minutes.)
