I have received complimentary Platinum upgrades there 100% of the time to a 2-room suite at the end of the hall. These rooms end in "09." Was yours an "09" room?
Your rate is excellent for 2012. I recently booked a 4-night stay at Le Méridien San Francisco for January 2013 and scored a rate of $155 per night. I like Le Méridien because you almost always can get a Platinum upgrade to a business suite or a luxury suite.
