Seriously, though, laundromats in Japan are more easily available and cheaper than in any of the European countries I've visited. I nearly died of sticker shock the first time I saw the prices in a London laundromat: £3 to wash and £1 for each 12 minutes of drying, i.e. £5 an hour. (The machines in my apartment building cost $1.25 to wash and $1.25 for 45 minutes of drying.)
