Bear in mind that the cheapest flights available will invariably be from airlines outside your hub, e.g. SQ will charge less for KUL-SIN-XXX than SIN-XXX. Conversely if you're flying out of KL, then it may be cheaper to do so via SIN rather than direct from KUL-XXX
I wouldn't say that's the case in terms of KUL and SIN though- MH pricing is more LCC style rather than traditional legacy so I would say that KUL-EU n/s on MH would be cheaper than KUL-SIN-EU on SQ.
