My first ever visit to a lounge was the old BA lounge in T1, (now occupied by Star), I recall it being a fantastic lounge, now Star have turned it into a dingy hole!
Are you sure that it's not your expectations that have changed?
Be greatful BA at least have the international lounge, if it wasn't for that I could see them sharing with the priority pass lounge like they do at many outstations.
LHR is hardly an outstation! BA have a fair number of flights a day from there.
