01-31-07 Never Forget
So we have another incident where something had all of the components of an explosive device...except explosives. In other words: a device...we all have devices. Instead of doing their jobs properly: look at device, determine it to be not a threat, give it back...the security folks screwed up and pushed the panic button.
Now whether on not this is intentional act of bullying by the powers that be or an honest over-reaction is irrelevant. People in uniform have been made to look foolish, and there is now a fall to be taken. Will a prosecutor come up with enough creative charges threatening enough jail time to get the victim to cop a plea to a lesser charge? Or will they simply issue a warning, and be content with whatever extra-judicial punishment was exerted by the officers on the scene?
