TG to BKK then connecting to another airline domestic. Big problems await?

Hey all. Was hoping I could get some advice about landing and connecting in BKK. We just rearranged our FF trip so we can fly F on the LH A380 FRA-NRT, connecting to a TG747 to BKK in F. Our final destination is USM but we land at 3:45 and there are no more TG Flights to USM that day. So looks like we'll need to buy tix on Bangkok Airways at 6:45p.

We will be checking one bag. Since the Bangkok Air tix is bought outside of the ticket to Bangkok I assume that we will need to land, clear immigration, collect the bag, clear customs, then head back to check in and go back through security?

Sounds convoluted but not sure how the transfer from TG international to BKK Airways domestic would work or if we'd have any lounge access at all once back in the secured area.

Thanks for any advise you can offer!
