I would dispute it with AMEX. IME they are absolutely on the cardholder's side. Although it's 25 years ago they went to the point of threatening BA with court on my behalf over a double charge with a car rental voucher. Something I didn't know until I went into the BA Toronto city ticket office to buy another ticket and the agent recognized my name. I will never drop my AMEX card because of that.^
