I am flying LAX to Hainan Island on China Southern in Business Class. Travelling on US passport. I understand I can acquire a Hainan Island specific VISA upon arrival into Haikou Airport but have received conflicting information about need for China Visa as I shall only be transiting the airport (2 hours) before onward flight to Hainan Island. Do I need a visa?
I am departing Hainan on EVA to TPE and then onward to LAX so other than 2 hours on outbound journey shall not enter mainland China. Advise/comments please?
