As I have said before, i don't understand their insistence to charge phone fees to Elites and premium customers. i had a very pleasant experience last week when making a 14k business class booking with Emirates (my first ever Emirates booking), no charge, and extremely helpful interaction. Given this was my first ever interaction with this airline, I would have been really annoyed if I had called and been told I had to pay a fee to speak to them.

its entirely short sighted in my opinion to charge these fees and it turns passengers off and if their competitors out of NZ for premium passengers are not charging it (SQ, EK) its just another reason not to fly NZ.

They seem extremely arrogant in many ways, assuming passengers will just keep coming back to them no matter what they do... I think sometimes they believe their own PR hype and think gimmicks like LOTR trailers are a substitute for declining standards across the board.
