hat you can apply for. Depending on whether you apply for a Visa or MC or Amex, the card you get might be at a "platinum" or "gold" level (credit limit category and such), but you don't apply for one of those. (And in some cases the "platinum" is renamed "siganture".)
Separately, there is of course a non-credit AA Platinum
elite status card, but that's not what we mean by "card" in this discussion (which is about retention offers, which has nothing to do with status levels).
