Used the same CC with her. Was able to duplicate the problem online three times before calling. Obviously something wrong on UA's end -- though what that was is beyond me. I'm as confident as I can be that there were no input errors on my end. Checked that very closely.

The broader point though: that it took more than 45 minutes for an agent to book a one-way domestic reservation is independent of any CC issue.
