I understand and have a lot of experience with this frustration. It was not totally clear if you mean you can't find anything on 9W flights specifically, or anything on any AA partners, but let me address the latter.

The situation between US and India has become much tighter. In a relatively short span we have lost AA's DELORD nonstop and the and BRU HEL connections. 9W is generally stingy. To make matters worse, AA's own rule of not allowing TPAC connections magnifies the scarcity artificially.

My suggestion would be to look for unusual solution:

1. Relatively less mainstream airlines, such as RJ, GF, and EY. If they can't get you to the USA, at least try to get to LHR. As an EXP, AA will accommodate you on its own flights from there.

2. If you can overnight in HEL, there is usually some availability.

3. Another out-of the-box solution is to think TPAC. You will have to pay for 2 awards costing more miles, but as few people do this, you may find availability.

4. Most people with any common sense hate airport transfers like NRT/HND and JFK/LGA. So look for such connections and you may find availability.

5. J is the hardest cabin to find. Be prepared to either splurge on F, or suffer in Y (Main Cabin Extra should take some of the sting out).

For reference, my wife and I are traveling in January ORD-JFK-HND-BKK (F award, AA/AA/JL), BKK-DEL (separate ticket), and DEL-BAH-LHR-ORD (Y award, GF/GF/AA). The BKK stop is intentional, but much of the rest is dictated by availability.
