"Meadow" is what we usually get. Sometimes you can get a deal for an ocean house, but the Meadow houses usually have views that are still very good and only a few hundred yards back from the coast. Depending on what part of Sea Ranch you are in, the houses might be less dense and you'd get a great view all the way down to the ocean (like what we had at the houses I linked).

Our house a few years ago, called Robin's Nest from Coastal Rentals (on Otter Close street in Sea Ranch, you can google map it). Was well back from the ocean, and we could hear the waves crashing from our bedroom at night with the windows closed. It was a short walk from a great beach, one of the better ones at Sea Ranch. Priotti Oliver which I linked above had great views, but was further back.
