Free seat when an infant turns two during travel - with partner airlines?

I've read here, that if an infant turns two during travel, (s)he gets a free seat with BA.
Seems like this applies to award bookings too, as I'm quoted the price for infant, not a whole seat.
Does this apply to awards booked with BAEC, but flown with Iberia? When I do the booking, I'm quoted the price for an infant.
I generally don't like Iberia, but
1) no availability with BA when I need it
2) less avios needed, which allows me to book business class. I doubt they'll give me a free business seat if there isn't one available at the gate, but it will be OK if I don't have to purchase a seat separately (and one way too).
I don't intend to do any convoluted schemes with months-long stopovers, just fly out before the second birthday and return after it.
Any experience or ideas before I call BAEC? Thanks.
