My understanding was that if you were a member before the change over to the 2 year rule, you might fall into my situation where you get another 3 years that has a floating 2 year period.

This really makes no sense to me either.

I'll try to explain again.

I've been a member before 2008 when the switch to the 2 year requalification happened.

In 2008, the rules changed to 2 years to requalify but they also grandfathered people where they had 3 years also. You could qualify under either the 2 or 3 year rule at this point if you were a Gold or Diamond before 2008, which ever was better, which if you think about it doesn't make sense since 3 years is better.

For myself, my membership should of thus reset in 2010 and then again in 2012. If I'm following the 2 year rule.

If I'm following the 3 year rule, my first renewal would be in 2011.
My Diamond Card which I got around 2010, has an expiration date of 10/2011 meaning I am on the 3 year rule. Okay, so I got a new card for Gold since I got downgraded because I didn't fly enough.

When should my expiration date be for that card? It should be 10/2013 right, 2 years after 10/2011. I'm looking at my Gold card right now that was sent to me in 2011, it has an expiration date of 11/2014. What the heck, that's 3 years again.

Now even though the website says that my qualifying period ended in 2012 of this year, which to me sounds right, 2008, 2010, 2012. My card expiration dates say that 2008, 2011, 2014, 3 years apart.

I was told by the LA office that the 3 year qualifications are right for people who were grandfathered in before 2008 but that it is a 2 year floating, meaning I must fly 40k, in either 2011 and 2012 or 2012 and 2013 to earn Diamond again.

I was telling them ..., it contradicts the website and everything I know about the program. My Gold 5k certs expired after 1 year since I was downgraded in 2011.

They flip the computer screen around, show me all the dates. I show them the my online account where it reset this month and says I have zero miles as of today. Their system says I have 20K miles already banked in this qualification period that will go through 2014 in floating manner.

Confused, yes, I think we all are and so is Asiana, but do you expect anything less at this point.

Just reporting what I saw, like I said, I will report back in January once I fly and hit the 40k mark to see if I get upgraded. Unless someone else can confirm.

I was told something along the lines of, sometime in 2010 when the Diamond Plus tier was put in, it messed up the system online and switched everyone to a 2 year cycle when they should not have been yet, so don't rely on the website.... yeah, don't rely on their own website.

Still confused, yeah, me too...... haha.....
