Asiana renewal period is 3 years this time despite what the Asiana website and info

Hi folks,
I thought I would post some interesting information I found out this week.

Asiana moved over from a 3 year requalifying period to keep Gold (20k) or Diamond (40k) to a 2 year period. So there was this period where you could qualify under the new rules 2 years or old rules 3 years. I thought that was over in 2011. The new rules took effect in Oct 2008, meaning you need 40k to keep Diamond and that would mean, you need 40K from Oct 2008 until Oct 2011 for the old 3 year rule.

Well, I thought that was the last time that the old 3 year rule applied. Apparently, those that were in the system already got another 3 year time period to earn Diamond but now it's a floating 2 years, meaning out of the 3 years. If you fly the 20k or 40k in the first 2 years then you get upgraded or if you fly the 20k or 40k in the last 2 years of the 3 years you get upgraded.

Confusing I know. I went directly to the Los Angeles Asiana office and had to get this straightened out.

On the website, it shows that all my qualifications miles were reset this month, so I thought I was starting from scratch again. I saw with my own eyes that on their end, it says that I have another year to get the neccessary miles to get Diamond.

The reason this came up is because I wanted to use the 5k bonus you get as a Gold member, my membership on the website reset this month to Gold, meaning that I should get a new 5k cert. Well, they told me that my 5k cert expired since my Gold started last year, not this month, like it says on the website when I log it.

Anyway, for those that need another year, here it is. I'm taking 6 flights in Dec/Jan that will take me over 40k and I told them that if I don't get upgraded back up to Diamond, I'm going to go in there and hold a protest in their office....haha....

Also, don't bother calling in to verify this, right now, just fly in the next year and see if you get upgraded or not. Seriously, if you called the Asiana office in LA, it's tough to get a correct answer sometimes, hence while I don't even live close to LA, I went there to get it straightened out. I was there for another reason but this was a big bonus. They don't validate parking anymore, which sucks, costs me $7 while they took an hour to figure things out.
